7 teams fighting for 4 playoff spots
Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants were officially eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoff race on Sunday, and Delhi Capitals are all but out, if not mathematically.
RCB, SRH and GT are occupying the top 3 spots with 14 points in 11 games each, followed by free-falling Punjab Kings with 13 points. After dominating the first half of the season, PBKS have lost their grip with four consecutive defeats.
The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings are currently at No. 5 with 12 points in 11 games, on level with sixth-placed Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata Knight Riders, who failed to win their first six matches, are also alive in the race, with 8 points from 9 games.
So, with just 2 points separating the top 6 teams, the playoff race is heating up very nicely.

Sunrisers Hyderabad eye top spot in the points table
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been one of the consistent performers this season, having lost just one of their last seven matches. A win today will boost Pat Cummins' side to the top of the IPL 2026 points table and will cement their chances for Qualifier 1.
In their last game, SRH overcame the then table toppers Punjab Kings and rose to the top of the points table. The Orange Cap holder Heinrich Klaasen continued his rich form with another fifty to help the Sunrisers post 235, and then Pat Cummins bowled the match-winning spell to lead the team to a dominant 33-run win.
SRH are looking to overcome their losing streak against GT and take an early step towards the playoff qualification today.
Gujarat Titans look to extend winning run
Gujarat Titans have emerged as the title contenders after a poor start in IPL 2026. The Titans have won their last four games and now sit third in the points table with 14 points, on level with the leaders RCB.
In their last game, Gujarat Titans recorded their biggest win in IPL history, beating Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs while defending 229 total in Ahmedabad. Openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan continued their red-hot run with their fourth fifty this season, and Rashid Khan picked up four wickets to enter the Purple Cap race.
The 2022 IPL champions will look to boost their comparatively lower net run rate with a big and dominant win against Sunrisers Hyderabad today.
