NEW DELHI: South Africa’s experienced batter David Miller on Saturday received medical clearance to link up with the national squad for the T20 World Cup, which gets underway next week.

Miller had picked up a muscle strain during the SA20 and is set to travel with the South African team on Sunday to Mumbai, Cricket South Africa confirmed.

“Proteas Men’s batter David Miller has been medically cleared for next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka,” CSA said in a post on social media.

“Miller successfully completed a fitness test this week after recovering from an adductor muscle strain sustained while representing Paarl Royals during the SA20.”

“He will join the squad on Sunday when they depart for Mumbai from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg,” CSA added.

Runners-up in the previous edition, South Africa have been drawn in Group D alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

The Proteas will face India in a warm-up match at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on February 4 before opening their World Cup campaign against Canada in Ahmedabad on February 9.
