David Miller and captain Axar Patel produced brilliant counter-attacking knocks as the Delhi Capitals pulled off a sensational three-wicket win over Punjab Kings to keep their IPL 2026 campaign alive in Dharamsala.

Chasing a daunting 211, Delhi completed the highest successful run chase at the HPCA Stadium, reaching 211 in 19 overs. Miller smashed 51 off 28 balls while Axar led from the front with a blistering 56 off 30 deliveries, turning the game decisively in DC’s favour.

PBKS post 210 after Priyansh Arya’s explosive start

Earlier, Punjab Kings posted a strong 210/5, powered by Priyansh Arya’s aggressive 56 off 33 balls, an innings laced with six sixes.

Captain Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with an unbeaten 59 off 36 balls, while Cooper Connolly added 38 off 27. A late burst from Suryansh Shedge, including two stunning sixes off Mitchell Starc, pushed PBKS to a competitive total, but not enough in the end.

The hosts were flying early but Delhi pacers pulled things back in the middle overs. Despite the platform, Punjab could not accelerate late as wickets at key moments stalled their finish.

DC collapse early before fightback begins

Delhi’s chase began poorly as Punjab struck three times inside the powerplay. At 47/3, DC were under pressure with the game slipping away early.

Yash Thakur broke through by cleaning up Abhishek Porel, while Arshdeep Singh removed KL Rahul and later dismissed Sahil Parakh with disciplined bowling. A sharp run-out of Tristan Stubbs further deepened DC’s troubles at 74/4.

Miller–Axar partnership changes the game

Just when Punjab looked in control, Miller and Axar stitched together a match-defining 64-run stand off just 34 balls. Their fearless hitting shifted momentum completely, bringing DC back into contention.

The finishing touches came from Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari, who ensured Delhi stayed ahead in the final stretch and completed the chase with over an over to spare.

PBKS lose fourth straight after strong start

For Punjab Kings, it was another disappointing finish. After being unbeaten in the first half of the season, they have now suffered four consecutive defeats and must win at least two of their remaining three matches to stay in playoff contention.

Arshdeep Singh was the standout bowler with figures of 2/21, while the rest of the attack struggled for consistency.
