Macneil Noronha earned call-up after strong domestic performances
Noronha has been one of Karnataka’s standout young players in the domestic circuit. The 24-year-old was recently awarded the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the BCCI Naman Awards after finishing as the highest run-scorer in the 2024-25 CK Nayudu Trophy for the Under-23 category.
His consistent performances also earned him a place in Karnataka’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He featured in three matches and made an immediate impact.
In one of his appearances against Tripura cricket team, Noronha scored a quick 34 and also picked up a wicket with his off-spin, showing the all-round skills that attracted CSK.
Chennai battling injuries across departments this season
CSK have had to deal with several injury setbacks throughout the season, and the latest blow to Ghosh adds to an already long list.
Before the season even began, pacer Nathan Ellis was ruled out, which came as a major setback to the bowling unit. Later in the tournament, young batter Ayush Mhatre suffered a hamstring tear after an impressive run with the bat. His injury ended his campaign and weakened CSK’s batting depth.
Despite these setbacks, CSK have managed to turn their season around strongly.
CSK remain firmly in playoff race despite setbacks
After losing their first three matches of the season, CSK looked under pressure early in the campaign. But the team has responded impressively and remains in strong contention for a playoff place.
They are currently fifth on the points table with six wins from 11 matches and 12 points. More importantly, they are carrying strong momentum with three consecutive victories.
CSK’s next challenge will be against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday, May 15.
