Former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly has made a big statement about the future of the Indian cricket team. The former captain of India congratulated India for their excellent performance in England recently. India managed to level the 5 match Test series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in 2025. According to him, Indian cricket has produced many young players over the years.

Saurav Ganguly on Team India’s transformation in cricket:
During a recent interview, he said, “Indian cricket stops for no one, there is so much talent, when Sunil Gavaskar left, Sachin came, as did Rahul Dravid, Virendra Sehwag and VVS Laxman. When they left, Virat Kohli emerged as a pillar of Indian cricket, and when Kohli left, Jaiswal, Gill, and Rishabh Pant stood up.”
Ganguly pointed out India’s T20 team is stronger than the Test side. He believes Team India is the best team for the upcoming Asia Cup in 2025, which is set to start from September 9 to September 28, 2025. Indian T20 side has done so well in recent times, including after winning the T20 World Cup in 2024, and even after that done remarkably well under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir. During this period, India won 12 out of 15 T20Is, which shows the consistency of Team India.
He appreciated the influence of India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav’s match-winning ability and the exceptional performance of all the young players. Team India has an abundance of young talent in T20 to dominate in this format.

With almost 7 months to go for the T20 World Cup 2026, Ganguly expressed full faith in young players to perform on the bigger stage. He believes the mix of experienced players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and fearless young talents, Team India looks very strong for any opponents.
India will play their first match of the Asia Cup against the UAE at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10, 2025
