The Ring General Gunther made millions of WWE fans cry at the Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13 when he defeated John Cena in his retirement match. Not only did he defeat Cena, but he also made him tap out to his submission move, the Sleeper Hold. This was the first time in 21 years that Cena tapped out, which a large number of fans totally hated.
On the very next Monday on RAW, Gunther opened the show and received a terrible reaction from the fans. He became the most hated name in the world of professional wrestling overnight after he made Cena tap out in his last ever professional wrestling match. The fans not only hated this decision, but they were in complete shock.

Jackie Redmond talked about Gunther rubbing the defeat of John Cena
The Australian professional wrestler decided to cash in on this hatred, and he started rubbing John Cena's defeat. It made him an even bigger hated figure among the wrestling fans. WWE announcer Jackie Redmond recently talked about this incident and criticized the Ring General. Speaking on the RAW Recap, she said the following;
Gunther made John Cena tap out at Saturday Night's Main Event
“We didn’t get a happy ending, and what do you always say about GUNTHER? He doesn’t let us have happy endings. … Cody says, ‘Wrestling is a love story,’ GUNTHER says, ‘I think not, actually.’ He says, ‘You’re not going to end up together. You’re not going to get the happy ending. There’s no marriage and then babies.

It was the last ever professional wrestling match of Cena
"I will ruin whatever your perfect ending is. Not on my watch. You’re going to be lonely and miserable, and everything that you love, I will rip from you.’ That’s GUNTHER. And then we have to see him first?! Playfully C’mon Hunter [Triple H]! You heard the fans! We’re mad! What are you putting him out there first for?!” said the former World Heavyweight Champion.
Things are pretty much clear that WWE wants to promote The Ring General as the biggest heel of WWE, and that was the reason he rubbed John Cena's defeat on RAW last Monday. The present rumours are not suggesting towards him having any world championship match at WrestleMania 42, but rumors have it that he will go on to challenge Brock Lesnar at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
