Damian Priest is one of the few wrestlers that Triple H promoted as a main event star, and his main event push started back in 2023 when he won the Money in the Bank ladder match. He then cashed in the contract at WrestleMania XL after Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
But Drew McIntyre's celebration was a short lived as Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and took the World Heavyweight Championship away from him. Priest had an impressive reign of the world title and ultimately, he dropped the Championship to Gunther at SummerSlam 2024.

Damian Priest may have lost his main event run
Despite dropping the Championship, he maintained his main event status, and his fans expected him to win back the World Heavyweight Championship again. He kept on having big feuds with the top stars; he even had a huge match with Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 41. He was still pushed as a main event star despite not getting to grab that World title again.
Damian Priest lost to Aleister Black on SmackDown this week
After he ended his feud with the Scottish Psychopath, he started a new rivalry with Aleister Black, who recently made his return to WWE after four years. This week on SmackDown, the duo had their first match, and after an amazing physical showdown, Aleister Black shocked the entire world when he pinned Damian Priest in the middle of the ring.

Priest never got the opportunity to win the World title again after dropping it at SummerSlam 2024
Aleister Black did not have a very strong run upon returning, as he even lost a match to R-Truth, who is a 53 year old wrestler and does not have any future left in the promotion. Chances are very low that Black will ever be pushed as a main event star in WWE. Naturally, fans have started asking questions about this match.
This might be an indication of the end of the main event push of Damian Priest. Presently, he is not in the World title picture, and it looks like he will continue his rivalry with Black for a little longer. It is pretty much clear that he is not going to get another world title run anytime soon, and it also looks like he has lost his main event push. His first and only world title run did not work very well.
