Last year, WWE brought back the famous and classic King of the Ring tournament along with the Queen of the Ring tournament as an official premium live event. The fans were pretty much certain that these two tournaments would also take place this year at the same time.
It had been announced that these two tournaments will also take place this year, but not as a premium live event format like last year, the finals of the two tournaments will take place at the upcoming PLE event, Night of Champions. The event will take place on June 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments announced for Night of Champions
One question the fans are asking is why they changed the name of the event when the biggest attractions will be these two tournaments. Since King of the Ring had been a classic tournament and it had high value, they should have kept the previous name, and there was no real need to change the name to Night of Champions.

These tournaments were always booked to promote the next big star. But last year, the purpose was changed when Gunther and Nia Jax won their tournaments, respectively, who were already established stars. It will be interesting to see how they treat the tournaments this year.

If they go back to the previous format or purpose of promoting the next beat star through the tournament, several names are favourites to win the tournament. Solo Sikoa or LA Knight are presently the two biggest favourites who definitely have the potential to win it.

For the women's version, the three new call ups, Giulia, Roxanne Perez, and Stephanie Vaquer, can definitely be considered the favourites to win the Queen of the Ring tournament. Either one of these three wrestlers is also a favourite to win the women's Royal Rumble match of 2026. We hope the actual first of the tournament gets served this time.
