LA Knight may have been one of the most over wrestlers among the WWE fans right now, it can also never be denied that WWE never considered him a main event star. He has thrived under Triple H's reign as the creative in charge of WWE, and he has even won the WWE United States Championship two times so far.
But the fans kept on complaining that despite being one of the most over wrestlers in WWE right now, the promotion is not ready to give him a main event push, and they will only keep him used as a mid card. He has been in the main roster for over 3 years, and he has done a tremendous job so far.
LA Knight is not being protected by WWE, thinks Bubba Ray Dudley
Even professional wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley is not happy with the way WWE has treated LA Knight so far, and he hated it when they failed to protect him against Gunther in the final of the Last Time is Now tournament. Speaking on the Busted Open Radio Podcast, he discussed the following;
“Well, you have to be able to see this 360 degrees of pro wrestling, from every aspect, every point of view. Tell me why LA Knight shouldn’t win. I know that Vince, Vince specifically, would have looked at somebody and go, tell me why LA Knight should win. And you go, boss, you’ve been saying from day one that you want GUNTHER to win. What do you mean, you make a case for LA Knight? ‘You’re right, I’ve been saying GUNTHER from day one, now convince me that I’m wrong.’”
LA Knight has been active on the main roster since 2022
“What? That’s because you want to hear it all, because there might be one little point, a germ of an idea that makes you sit back and go, whoa, maybe we should rethink this, or whoa, maybe we should do the finish a little bit differently. Whoa, maybe we should protect LA Knight in the finish, which they did not.”
“I was very torn by the actual finish. LA Knight tapped out. Now, here’s why I was p***. You could have pinned him, but you didn’t do that. Or you could have had him pass out to the move. Steve Austin lost in a sharpshooter against Bret Hart, and that got Steve over to the moon because they said he did not tap out. He would not give up.”
He is presently out with a storyline injury
“But that’s not what they chose to do with LA Knight. LA Knight tapped. Our babyface tapped. And I know there’s no shame in tapping, but I’d rather you pass out to the pain than tap out any day of the week. There was no protection of LA Knight there.”
Knight is presently out of action with a storyline injury he suffered recently on RAW. He is expected to return by the Royal Rumble event to participate in the men's Royal Rumble match. Reports suggest that 2026 will be the year of the megastar as WWE has planned something really big for the former two times WWE United States Champion.
