Professional wrestling is full of unlikely Tag Teams, and throughout the years, there have been many such unlikely Tag Teams that went on to become extremely successful. One such team was Kane and X-Pac from the Attitude Era, the time period that is often considered the golden time of Tag Team wrestling.

In 1999, Kane and X-Pac teamed up for the first time, and the duo became extremely popular among the fans. They won the WWE Tag Team Championship two times but also had amazing matches with some of the top teams of the time. The fans of the time loved to see these two wrestlers working together.

Kane X-Pac

Why the unlikely Tag Team of Kane and X-Pac became extremely famous

Despite being one of the most famous tag teams of their time, fans nowadays do not remember Kane and X-Pac much. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who was a commentator for WWE back then, recently remembered this unlikely Tag Team and explained how it became so successful. Speaking on his "Grilling JR" podcast, he explained the following;

The duo won the WWE Tag Team titles two times

"Those two had chemistry, they respected each other, they wanted each other to succeed and do well, and they did," Ross recalled. "So, it was just a marriage made in heaven; unpredictable heaven, if nothing else." The veteran added that the two ended up doing well together, but admitted that he was one of the people who initially were skeptical about Kane and X-Pac being paired. "I just didn't feel it, but I was wrong."

Kane X-Pac

The Big Red Machine and X-Pac ended up having a rivalry

"It shows you how good Glenn Jacobs [Kane] was, and it certainly showed that Sean [X-Pac] was willing to do whatever Sean could do, from an athletic standpoint, to make this thing work," Ross added. "They told good stories and two good guys, two very good guys that loved the business, that made sure they took care of their end of the proposition; and they did."

Despite the team being extremely successful, WWE decided to end it by the end of October 1999. A Tag team match was going on between them and the Dudley Boyz, where X-Pac betrayed his Tag Team partner and abandoned him. At the end of the match, he DX attacked his tag team partner. The duo ultimately had a rivalry after this betrayal.
