Over the years, WWE has been the biggest promotion in the world of professional wrestling, and no promotion for the last three decades could ever step before this promotion. Many wrestling promotions have tried to compete with the mighty World Wrestling Entertainment, but ultimately, all of the companies failed.

The last company that gave them strong competition was WCW during the mid and late 90s. The promotion was flying really high with such a huge star power like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. But ultimately, it failed miserably with the World Wrestling Federation, which is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment.

Is WWE Notting to buy TNA Wrestling?

In 2001, the then owner of the promotion, Vince McMahon, purchased WCW, and he announced it on television that he had finally purchased his biggest competition. He even purchased ECW, another promotion that was doing quite good. In the 2000s, TNA Wrestling was also doing quite good, and it was also providing competition to World Wrestling Entertainment.

TNA Wrestling was founded back in 2002

But ultimately, TNA Wrestling could not remain as big as it used to be. It still exists, and presently, it even has a partnership deal with WWE. The fans are witnessing multiple cross brand appearances every week. But WWE officials are only treating TNA Wrestling equivalent of the NXT, which is their developmental territory.

TNA Wrestling has a partnership deal with World Wrestling Entertainment

Recent reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggest World Wrestling Entertainment presently has an agreement with TNA Wrestling that they can buy the whole promotion if they want. However, there is no confirmation presently whether they are considering buying the promotion.

If WWE actually goes on to buy TNA Wrestling, it can well be a terrible move since the promotion has never been so kind with all the promotions they have purchased previously. They shut down WCW and ECW instantly after purchasing. It would be an awful move if World Wrestling Entertainment buys out TNA Wrestling and closes it forever.
