Zack Ryder was released from WWE back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic era, and much like a lot of stars during that time, Ryder also lost his job in WWE. From 2020 to 2021, WWE released loads of talent from its roster to manage its budget. It is still considered one of the worst time periods in the history of WWE.

Zack Ryder did an amazing job all over the independent circuit and in other wrestling promotions like TNA Wrestling. Finally, he made a surprise return in WWE to participate in the ongoing Last Time is Now tournament and had a match with LA Knight. He might have lost the match, but he earned the respect of the fans once again with his excellent performance.

Chelsea Green discusses the return of Zack Ryder

A large number of fans expected that WWE would bring him back on a permanent basis since they used his Zack Ryder ring name, which is exclusive to WWE. But now it is pretty much clear that he was brought back for only one match. This appearance had been more like a surprise appearance in The Royal Rumble.

But a lot of fans want him back in WWE regularly, mostly after the amazing performance he delivered in the tournament he participated in. His real life wife, and the present WWE Women's United States champion, recently talked about his return to WWE, and she also explained why it had been perfect. Speaking with ESPN LA recently, she explained the following;

He had been released from WWE back in 2020

“You know, I used to have a shirt that said it’s about damn time and that’s exactly how I felt about that. I’ve been waiting for this moment since the day he got released. I could’ve never guessed that his independent career would take off the way it did and it would change professional wrestling forever, for independent wrestlers.

"For the past couple of years, it’s been like, okay, it’s time. You’ve done what you can do on the indies, let’s get him back home where he belongs. I was so happy it was on SmackDown, it was a day at work where I could be there watching live and seeing the reactions and seeing everyone so happy to have him back. It was perfect.” Seth Chelsea Green regarding the return of Zack Ryder.
