John Cena started his retirement tour earlier this year from the Netflix RAW premiere, which was also the first episode of Monday Night RAW of 2025. Last year, he appeared add the Money in the Bank event in Canada and announced the heartbreaker that he would retire by the end of 2025.

We won the men's Elimination Chamber match to earn the opportunity to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41. He even had his first heel run in over 2 decades. He then defeated Rhodes to win his record breaking 17th World title.

But despite he is having such an amazing run, he is still determined to retire, and according to reports, he will wrestle his final match in WWE this December. But the fans kept on asking the question; why did he decide to retire so early in his career? WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H recently spoke with ESPN’s SportsCenter, where he explained the possible reason;

“John [Cena] is the greatest of all time. And I think that this type of tour shows why he is. For him, this sort of year-long tour is about him giving back. It’s about him, going to all these cities and towns that he has been, that have made him one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time.

"That have made him the Hollywood box office attraction that he is, that have made him so successful and helped him along that journey. This is him going back to them and saying thank you. This is him going back to that and saying thanks for the ride. Thanks for following me.”
There had been a lot of discussions about which event John Cena would wrestle his final match. According to recent reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he will have his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event, which is scheduled for December 13. His final opponent is still a matter of discussion.
