Brock Lesnar made his WWE main roster debut back in 2002. It was RAW after WrestleMania X8, the Hardcore Championship was still intact, and the title was on the line. Suddenly, a huge man entered the ring and destroyed all the men who were involved in this Hardcore Championship match.
This big man turned out to be Brock Lesnar whose earliest feud in the main roster was against the Tag Team Legends, The Hardy Boyz. They had a nearly 3 month long feud starting with Jeff Hardy, whom Lesnar defeated at the Backlash event of 2002. Later, Matt Hardy also teamed up with his brother to provide stronger competition to Lesnar.
WWE Legend revealed why he worked with Brock Lesnar during his early days
They had two Tag Team matches into back to back pay per view events. First match was on WWE insurrextion 2002, where Lesnar teamed up with Shawn Stasiak who was the son of the legendary professional wrestler Stan Stasiak. The Hardy Boyz pick up the victory in this match by pinning Stasiak. After the match, Lesnar expressed his frustration with both Hardy Boyz and his own Tag Team partner.

On the next pay per view event, which was the Judgement Day, Lesnar was forced to team up with Paul Heyman. This time, Brock Lesnar manhandled both of the Hardy Boyz and also picked up the victory. Matt Hardy, who was a big part of this feud, recently remembered it and revealed why he and Jeff Hardy were paired against Lesnar. Speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy Podcast, he revealed the following;
"I think we were paired with Brock out of the gates because they trusted us. They knew that we understood the mission. He was a guy that they saw huge potential in. They thought he was going to be a long-term top talent, and they just trusted myself and Jeff in being with him. They thought we wouldn't take advantage of him.
One of his earliest feuds in the main roster was against the Hardy Boyz
“They thought we would work hard for him. They thought we would bump for him. But they thought we would also lead him if he needed leadership in certain ways. And I think that's why, you know, we ended up being paired with Brock Lesnar right in the beginning.

“We ended up being married for quite a while earlier on. And I know the first few years he was there, I ended up working with him on and off quite a bit and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed working with Brock a lot." Said Mat Hardy, who is famous as one half of The Hardy Boyz.
