The whole WWE universe is still in a huge shock at the retirement of John Cena, as it feels like this void will never be filled. Cena had been the biggest star of WWE for the last two decades, and the wrestling world is definitely going to miss him. It will also be very difficult to replace him since he is regarded as the Greatest of All Time.

WWE had been trying really hard to replace John Cena for the last decade. Roman Reigns was really closed of being the next Cena, he has definitely gone on to become a megastar, but Cena remained irreplaceable. After 2017, Cena became a part timeer in WWE as he started pursuing a career in Hollywood. But he kept on working as a part time on, and he did really well, even better than other part timer.

Seth Rollins thinks Cody Rhodes will replace John Cena in the future

But who will ultimately go on to replace John Cena in WWE? Six times WWE World Champion Seth Rollins recently discussed the name who has the potential to replace Cena in WWE in the near future. He named the present Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes as the potential candidate. Speaking on the “Games With Names” podcast, he explained the following;

John Cena announced his retirement on December 13

“Well, at this point, Cody [Rhodes] had only been back for a few months. He comes back to WWE after a long hiatus. [He] started a rival company, AEW, and had been making some headway over there. And then he comes back to WWE at WrestleMania this year [2022] as my mystery opponent. Which legitimately was about as last-minute as you can get for a WrestleMania match.”

“And that was a big deal for our industry to have someone who had [sic]. He was the first guy who had left, gone to AEW, and then had come back. I was tasked with working with him right out of the gate. We were looking to make him a big star. He had done his due diligence while he was gone to get himself to a position where when we brought him back, he was ready to be one of the top acts in the company.”

Cody Rhodes had been promoted as the face of WWE ever since he returned to the promotion in 2022 during WrestleMania 38. He created history after he ended the 1300+ WWE World title reign of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. He is still standing as the Undisputed WWE Champion, and he has all the potential to replace John Cena in the near future.
