The McMahon family remained the owners of WWE for seven long decades. In 1953, Jess McMahon founded Capitol Wrestling Corporation, which was carried by his son, Vincent J. McMahon, soon after its formation. This promotion is widely regarded as the first form of WWE. Later, the McMahon family shifted their attention to the World Wide Wrestling Federation, aka WWWF.

This WWWF became WWF in 1980, and the son of Vincent J. McMahon, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, who is more famous by the name Vince McMahon started managing the promotion. When he took charge of the WWF, which is now known as WWE, there were many competitions for him. It was just another promotion in the midst of many.

But Vince was able to master all of his competitions one by one, and ultimately, he established his promotion as the best of them all. However, in 2023, he was forced to sell the promotion to the TKO group.

Vince McMahon has no link with WWE presently, but rumors have started to spread that he may buy back WWE. WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared his views while talking about this rumor recently, while speaking on his 83 Weeks Podcast. He said;

Vince McMahon remained the boss of WWE for more than four decades

“When Vince McMahon is involved, I tend to lean into the ‘never say never’ a lot more. I mean, I can’t imagine a scenario where that would be plausible.” He continued, “I take that back. I can’t imagine a scenario where that would be likely. However, it is plausible.

Vince sold WWE to TKO Group in 2023

“TKO may not be interested, but it’s a publicly held company. Depending on the offer, TKO has no choice but to be interested because they have a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to maximize shareholder value.” Said Bischoff, “And if Vince somehow put together a fund that would make a legitimate offer for a publicly held company, interested or not, it has to be entertained.”

It might have felt heart breaking for Vince McMahon to sell what he created, but he had multiple legal issues that prevented him from owning the promotion any longer. But after he is given a clean chit by the court, he can definitely think about buying the company again. But will the fans accept him again? That will remain a question.
