Seth Rollins has been out of action for the last 8 weeks with a shoulder injury, and the injury is going to keep him out of action for several more months. He was promoted as one of the biggest stars of 2025, and WWE wanted to put him over as the World Heavyweight Champion for WrestleMania 42.
Reports suggest that he was supposed to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. Things started kicking off for him after he pinned Roman Reigns in a triple threat match, also including CM Punk at WrestleMania 41. WWE built a faction around him, and he was regularly fighting for the World Championship segment.
Seth Rollins talked about his injury status
He won the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam after he cashed in his MITB contract on CM Punk. But after winning the Crown Jewel Championship at the Crown Jewel event, he was ruled out due to a shoulder injury. Recently, that's all he was asked when he returned to action, to which he replied the following while speaking with Jay Mohr,

“I had the rotator cuff surgery eight weeks ago, almost nine from when we’re talking right now. So I got another three months. I did a move where, I guess you would call it a coast-to-coast headbutt. I had Cody Rhodes hanging upside down in one corner, and I jumped from the other corner—20 feet—soaring through the air like a nut job.”
He was the World Heavyweight Champion while suffering the injury
“Way too old for this. All my weight was on this elbow, and so I just pushed it up into my shoulder socket—and I felt it move. I was like, ‘That’s not good. It wasn’t that bad until after I got the surgery. I had it in a sling, took a couple pain pills—it wasn’t a big deal, to be honest.”
Seth Rollins could have entered WrestleMania 42 as the World Heavyweight Championship but it looks like he will be missing the biggest event of the season. It was really unfortunate that he missed out on such a huge opportunity, but presently it looks like the World Heavyweight Championship match will take place between CM Punk and Bron Breakker. Roman Reigns, on the other hand, will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
