During his early days, he was addressed as Rocky Maivia, and he was instantly given a mid card push after joining the promotion. He even won the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

The Rock returned again for WrestleMania XL, where he was so close to facing Roman Reigns, but the fans did not want to see this match, so he gave up his spot. He wanted to have more big matches after that, like having a championship match with Cody Rhodes, but he could not give time since he had a packed schedule in Hollywood.
