Big Show wrestling career

The Big Show, Paul Wight, transitioned to professional wrestling in 1994 after having an impressive record in Basketball. He made his debut in December 1994 in the World Wrestling Association WWA. He attempted to sign for WWE during his early career, but he was rejected for not having any experience.

In 1995, he was brought in to WCW, which was the other major promotion of the time apart from WWE, and he started working in the promotion from the same year. He was given the ring name The Giant in WCW, and he was instantly promoted as a top star of the promotion. He became a big attraction of WCW, mostly for his big size and athletic abilities.

He challenged Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at the Halloween Havoc event of 1995, but he could not win the Championship since Hulk Hogan was disqualified. He made a huge statement after winning the World War 3 Battle Royal of 1996, which made it clear that the promotion was planning to push him as a main eventer.

He remained active in WCW until the early days of 1999, and during this time period, he was a two times WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and he also won the Tag Team titles three times. In early 1999, he joined WWE for the first time in his career, and this was also the first time he started to be addressed as the Big Show.

He remained active in WWE for the rest of the year, but in 2000, he was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling, which was the developmental territory of WWE back then, as the official thought he was still not ready for the main roster. Before going to OVW, he even featured on the main event of Wrestlemania 2000, which was a fatal 4 way match for the WWE World Championship.

He made his return to the main roster as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match of 2001. He featured in the triple threat Hardcore Championship match, where he was pinned by Kane. He was also a key figure in the WWE vs Alliance storyline throughout 2001. He featured in multiple World Championship matches at WrestleMania.

He remained active in WWE until 2021, and he had been a hugely successful star of the promotion. He had been a 5 times World Champion in WWE, including the ECW Championship. In 2021, he left WWE for the first time in 22 years to join the new wrestling promotion AEW. He is still active in the promotion where he is treated like a legend. We can expect him to get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame soon.
