Sami Zayn has been working in WWE for more than a decade, but he has never been promoted as a main eventer. He challenged for the World Championship titles several times, but he could never win any world title in the promotion, despite having a huge fan following, and the large number of fans still want him to become world champion.

Zayn's popularity increased after he became a part of the Bloodline storyline in 2022. He remained a part of it until 2023, and he became one of the most famous stars in WWE after working on this angle. He featured on the World title picture several times, but he could not win the title even after getting really over with the fans.

Sami Zayn was supposed to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania

However, recent reports from Self Made Pro suggest that Sami Zayn was supposed to win the men's Royal Rumble match of 2026 since it will take place in Saudi Arabia and would go on to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But unfortunately, these plans had been scrapped. Here is what they wrote about it;

Sami Zayn was previously supposed to win the men's Royal Rumble match of 2026

“This year, Roman Reigns’s whole plan—at some point during the year—changed. He decided, ‘I’m actually not all in on the Hollywood thing, and I’m coming back to WWE. I want a championship. I want to win a belt. And basically, I want Cody’s seat.’ They scrapped that whole Sami Zayn stuff, because Sami was originally going to be the guy to win the Rumble in Saudi and face Seth Rollins for the championship.”

Sami Zayn

The present world championship pictures do not feature Zayn

“That was the long-term plan for that whole thing, that whole saga with The Vision. They moved Sami Zayn over to SmackDown. That’s why, if you notice, Sami was on RAW fighting with The Vision, and they were holding off the program with him and Seth. Then they abruptly moved him to SmackDown—and then he’s the United States Champion. That became his new lane.”

Zayn is now expected to be removed from the World Championship picture at WrestleMania 42 after the injury of Seth Rollins, and the present reports suggest that Roman Reigns will win the men's Royal Rumble match and will go on to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Bron Breakker will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the other hand.
