On the last SmackDown episode of August, Sami Zayn challenged Solo Sikoa for the WWE United States championship in the main event of the show. It was a really hard fought match, and much like most of the main event matches every WWE show nowadays, it was an excellent match.

Sami Zayn ended up winning and also took away the WWE Championship from Solo Sikoa in this hard fought match. The fans in the arena seemed extremely happy with this victory of the Canadian professional wrestler, as they burst into cheers as soon as he successfully pinned Sikoa to win the match.

WWE Hall of Famer praised Sami Zayn's US title wave

A lot of wrestling pundits shared praise for this historic victory including WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, who claimed that this had been a victory of a hard worker. Speaking on the “Wrestling Time Machine” podcast, he spoke about this iconic United States championship win of Zayn by saying the following;

Sami Zayn is a former 4 times WWE Intercontinental Champion

“I just think they’ve been waiting for the right time to do something with him [Sami Zayn], and they went with it, and I think this is right for Sami. I really like him. I think he’s a hard worker with a great attitude."

Teddu Long continued, “You can look at his performance on TV and tell that whatever they [WWE] want him to do, he’ll do it; he doesn’t care. That’s what you do in this business – you give your life to it. And Sami Zayn, I believe, has done that.” stated the WWE Hall of Famer and former Smackdown general Manager Teddy Long.

Zayn recently defeated Solo Sikoa on SmackDown to win the WWE United States Championship

This is the first time Zayn has won the WWE United States Championship. He has been active in promotion for more than a decade, but he has never won the prestigious WWE United States Championship before. However, he had been a former four times WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Previously, he challenged for multiple other titles, including the world titles many times, but he could never win the titles. We seriously hope this historic United States championship win will help him a lot in his future, and it may even establish him as a potential main event star, something that he seriously deserved to be but could never be.
