In October 2018, Roman Reigns, who was not very over with the WWE fans, but Vince McMahon was determined to push him as the top star, made a shocking announcement that he was suffering from leukemia and could not continue wrestling. He previously had this disease, and unfortunately, it returned during that time.
It kept him out of action for nearly a couple of years, and in 2020, he returned with the tribal chief persona to become the biggest star of WWE. A large number of fans still believe that he finally became famous among the WWE fans because everybody sympathized with him for the disease he had. Otherwise, he could never get over.

Baron Corbin claimed Roman Reigns' leukemia angle was a storyline
But former WWE star and one of the biggest on screen rivals of Roman Reigns, Baron Corbin, recently gave a shocking interview where it seemed like the leukemia Roman Reigns had was all a storyline. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast recently, Baron Corbin said the following;
Roman Reigns left professional wrestling in October 2018 as he revealed he had leukemia
“It’s like taking shots at him about having cancer and I was like okay time out, does Roman or Joe know that this is the promo? And they were like, ‘No I don’t think so.’ And I said, I’m not saying this unless he tells me it’s cool to say and he was already gone … so I took it to Vince [McMahon] and I was like ‘hey man this is what they want me to say,’ he’s like ‘Yeah, we’re not going to say that,’ and he changed it.”

Reigns returned to action after fighting back the cancer in 2020
“As a person I don’t want beef with Joe or Roman because I said these things that were handed to me on paper cause it would have been me that took all the heat for it, not the writer who wrote it. They’re not going to take a bullet for you, so you got to protect yourself in that sense.”
A lot of fans still believe that Vince McMahon brought up this storyline so that Roman Reigns could get over with the fans. As nothing has been confirmed officially by WWE, it still remains a question whether it was legit or just an angle. And since Reigns had such past issues, things became quite believable.
