Ric Flair started working as a professional wrestler back in 1972, and after spending a couple of years in the American Wrestling Association, he joined Jim Crockett Promotions, which later became WCW. He spent a total of 17 years in WCW before switching to different promotions. WCW was the promotion that made him one of the biggest wrestlers in the professional wrestling world.

In 1991, Ric Flair joined WWE for the first time and got to spend only a couple of years in the promotion. He had been promoted as a top star, and he also won the WWE World title two times in this short run. He even won the Royal Rumble match of 1992 by entering as the number 3. The Royal Rumble of 1992 is widely considered to be one of the best Royal Rumble matches ever.

Flair returned to WCW in 1993, and he maintained his main event status. He remained in the promotion until its death, and he always had his legendary status. In November 2001, he returned to WWE, and at first, he was presented as the on screen co owner of the promotion. He was even shown in charge of RAW during the initial brand split of the promotion in 2002.

In the same year, he started working in the ring in WWE too, and he made his in ring return through a match with Vince McMahon at the Royal Rumble. He also had an excellent match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania X8. Later that year, he started working as a member of the famous faction Evolution. He also kept on appearing in the ring, and he was treated as a legendary mid card.

He wrestled his retirement match at WrestleMania 24 against Shawn Michaels. It is still considered one of the most emotional matches in professional wrestling history. But he kept on working in the ring, and he had his final match in 2022. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame individually in 2008.
