This record remained Intact until 2023 before it was broken by The Ring General Gunther. He went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22. He had been a three times WWE World Champion.
After winning the World Championship in 2006, he has always been treated as a main event star in WWE, and he never lost his main event status.
