In the main event of SummerSlam 2025 last night, John Cena defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes. John Cena record breaking 17th and final world title reign came to an end on the main event of SummerSlam after Rhodes managed to defeat him to take the title away from him.
After the match, John Cena attempted to have a final moment with the light proud, but a surprising event blew everyone's mind. Brock Lesnar made a surprise return after two long years, which completely shocked each and every WWE fan. This was something that nobody saw coming.
Why Brock Lesnar returned at SummerSlam
Lesnar entered the ring upon making this surprise return and nailed John Cena with an F5, making it clear that the duo are going to have a feud next. The fans are extremely happy to see one of their favourites finally making a grand return. It is also pretty much clear that Lesnar and Cena will have a huge feud.

Recent reports suggest that this is going to be the final feud of John Cena before his retirement. But there are questions about why WWE chose Brock Lesnar as the final opponent of John Cena before his retirement. Triple H revealed on the post show of SummerSlam Night 2 that it was John Cena's request to have Lesnar as his final opponent before his retirement. He said;
"My reaction was exactly what I thought it was going to be, which is if there was a roof on this place it wouldn't be there anymore. The dynamic in the room changes when The Beast is here. Seeing Brock Lesnar come back, anything you thought was happening goes out the window because the factor of Brock now just changes that dynamic. It makes it so unpredictable. So yeah, incredible, just incredible to have him back".

This year, for the first time, Crown Jewel will be taking place outside of Saudi Arabia and according to the latest rumours, John Cena and Brock Lesnar will go head to head at Crown Jewel. The next big event of WWE is Clash in Paris, but neither of the two wrestlers is advertised in the poster of the show, so the chances are high that this big match takes place at Crown Jewel.
As for Cody Rhodes, the next opponent is still not revealed, but we will get to know about it soon. At least we can all expect him not to drop the Undisputed WWE Championship until WrestleMania 42. Presently, CM Punk is heavily rumoured to be the WrestleMania 42 opponent of Cody Rhodes.
