Randy Orton wrestling career

Randy Orton started training for professional wrestling in the year 2000, and he also made his in ring debut in the same year, as he got the opportunity to work in Ohio Valley Wrestling, which was the developmental territory of WWE back then. He worked in OVW for a couple of years before making his main roster debut in 2002 during the early Ruthless Aggression Era.

He received a lower mid card push during his early career in the main roster, and in late 2002, he became a part of the leading faction of the time, which was Evolution. Triple H was the leader of the action, and the other members were Batista and Ric Flair. It remained the biggest deal of Monday Night RAW from 2002 to 2004.

While being a part of the Evolution faction, he received a decent mid card push as he won the Intercontinental Championship title one time, and his rivalry with Edge for the title was really famous back then. In mid 2004, he earned the right to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam in the same year.

At SummerSlam, he defeated Chris Benoit to win the World Heavyweight Championship and also became the youngest world champion in WWE history. The record is still intact even after 21 years. After he won the World title at SummerSlam, Evolution turned on him and he turned babyface following the attack. He dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H at the next WWE pay per view event, Unforgiven.

He also earned the opportunity to challenge the Undertaker at WrestleMania 21, and to be in this match, he turned heel again. After this rivalry, the ultimate rise of Randy Orton finally started, and he became one of the biggest names of the Ruthless Aggression Era. He went on to win multiple World Championship titles, and the wrestling world started to revolve around him.

His rivalry with John Cena is still considered one of the best rivalries not only of the time but in the history of professional wrestling. He also had other excellent rivalries with the likes of Triple H and Edge. He also featured on the main event of multiple WrestleMania events with multiple top stars of the promotion.

He is presently active in WWE, and he is considered a Legend of the promotion as he has the second highest World Championship reigns, tied with Triple H after John Cena, which is a total of 14 World title reigns. We are not considering Ric Flair in this list since he won most of his World titles from other promotions and not from WWE.

Nowadays, WWE treats him as a legend, and he still maintains his main event status. Rumours suggest that he will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the upcoming WrestleMania 42 event, which shows that the promotion still considers him as a main event star. We hope he keeps on working for at least another decade.
