The Miz won his first WWE Championship title back in November 2010 when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Randy Orton in an episode of Monday Night RAW. He had a stunning 160 day title reign before dropping the title to John Cena at the Extreme Rules event of 2011. He featured on the main event of Wrestlemania 27 with John Cena before dropping the title at the mentioned event.
The Miz did not get to win the WWE Championship again until 2021. But recently, it had been revealed that he was supposed to win the Championship again in 2011. The A-Lister recently spoke on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, where he revealed that he was supposed to win the tournament that was scheduled for the WWE Championship in 2011. He said;

“CM Punk left the show and he took the title with him. They made up a ‘paper champion’ or whatever. They brought a championship and said, ‘He’s leaving the show. He’s gone.’ They put the title in a refrigerator; that was the big meme. They were going to have a tournament. I went up against Rey Mysterio. I was going to beat Rey Mysterio and then beat John Cena, so I would be the champion.”
The Miz's first World title reign started in November 2010 and ended in May 2011
“They switched it because usually we like babyface vs. heel. Bad guy vs. good guy. In this instance, it would have been babyface vs. babyface. ‘You need bad guy vs. good guy.’ I was the bad guy, but then, it was two huge monumental babyfaces that are Rey Mysterio and John Cena. Let them go at it. There was a moment there where I would have been a (two-time) champion.”
He did not get to win his second World Championship before 2021
CM Punk defeated John Cena at Money in the Bank to win the WWE Championship, but he vacated the Championship after 4 weeks since he left WWE, which was, of course, a work. WWE held an eight man tournament to determine the new champion. The Awesome One was a part of the tournament.
In the finals of this mentioned tournament, The Miz faced Rey Mysterio, where the Master of the 619 defeated Miz to become the WWE Champion. John Cena defeated Rey Mysterio on the same night to win the WWE Championship again. CM Punk defeated John Cena at SummerSlam to win the WWE title back, but it is considered a continuation of his first title reign. Meanwhile, Miz was out of the main event scene.
