Naomi Fatu was involved in a controversial incident back in 2022 when she was holding the WWE women's Tag Team Championship with Sasha Banks. Only after a month of WrestleMania 38, where they won the titles, the duo had a creative dispute with then owner of WWE, Vince McMahon, and legitimately walked out of WWE.

The situation became so intense that it was even announced on live television. Fatu finally decided to come back to WWE after a couple of years, but Sasha Banks was quite good on the Independent circuit and also at AEW. She is presently holding multiple Championship titles at the same time, which shows what an amazing time she is spending outside of WWE.

Naomi explained why she walked out of WWE back in 2022

Naomi, on the other hand, decided to return to WWE only after one and a half years. She returned during the women's Royal Rumble match of 2024 as a surprise entrant, and she received a very strong push as she survived for more than an hour. Recently, she appeared on the “What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon” podcast, where she revealed the exact story of her walk out from WWE. She said;

Naomi and Sasha Banks were the Tag Team Champions in 2022 before walking out of WWE

“When the walkout happened, I think that was the first time in my adult life where I had the chance to stop, rethink, redefine, and figure out what I really wanted next and how I wanted my life to move forward. In the beginning, I really struggled to process that. I thought I didn’t want to wrestle anymore and that I was done. [Jimmy Uso] was also in a different place in his career. He was in the thick of Bloodline.”

“It was such a crazy time. He did such a great job. I also had to go through a lot emotionally and mentally on my own because he had his own stuff going on. That was the first time where I had to do the work on myself. It was great. It made me stronger. It re-lit a fire in me.

"I became a lot more confident in myself because I didn’t have him to reassure me on things about work. I thought I grew so much through that and the time period when I was gone. When I came back, I was ready, I was refreshed, and I was intentional on what I wanted this time to be like. I focused, I locked in, and I worked hard. It paid off.”

Naomi is presently getting a main event push after she turned heel. She won the women's Money in the Bank ladder match and cashed it in successfully to win the Women's World Championship. Currently, she is holding the title quite strongly, and she has established herself as a concrete main event star.
