The Street Profits are definitely one of the best tag teams in WWE right now, and they are also one of the biggest attractions of the Tag Team division of SmackDown. There is no doubt that the background is doing an amazing job in the Tag Team division presently, and it will not be exaggerated to say that they are presently managing one of the best Tag Team divisions in WWE history.
Having won the Tag Team titles multiple times, The Street Profits are definitely one of the biggest parts of the SmackDown's Tag Team division. But there had always been a discussion internally of a potential split of this famous Tag Team in order to push Montez Ford as a singles star. Vince McMahon was always a fan of Ford as a singles wrestler.
Montez Ford to split from his Tag Team?
McMahon even tried to push Ford as a single wrestler a number of times. Even Triple H tried to do the same a number of times, like in the Elimination Chamber of 2023, where he competed for the WWE United States Championship inside the chamber. Montez Ford recently talked about a potential split of his tag team and working as a singles wrestler. Speaking on the “No-Contest Wrestling” podcast, he said;
Montez Ford was previously pushed as a singles wrestler for a short time period
“Not to throw shade on nobody, but I’m going to go ahead and do it. You got The Usos, you’ve got all these tag teams that turned against their brother. In like 10 years, we’ve never decided to do that because we know that nobody wins when the family feuds.”
“If that opportunity arises or approaches and me and Dawks are in the Royal Rumble at the same time and we’re glancing across from each other, it’s a respectful thing like, ‘Hey brother, I love you, but this where we at right now.’
The Street Profits are presently one of the top tag teams of WWE
"Since we’re a tag team, since we’re a unit, we ain’t paying attention to that noise too much. We see it and we respect it, but you can’t take attention off the task at hand. It’s like if a player is going to another team next year and he just starts playing like ass because he know he’s leaving.”
If you look at the history, you will see many famous tag teams have broken and the two wrestlers of the team started working as single wrestlers and became extremely successful. For example, Shawn Michaels became one of the top stars of the wrestling world after getting cut from The Rockers. Most recently, Jey Uso is also a top star now after splitting from his brother. Montez Ford can also become a top star if pushed as a singles wrestler.
