Maven Huffman was one of the regular names of the early Ruthless Aggression Era of WWE, and he was a lower mid card who appeared regularly on the weekly shows of the promotion. He was introduced to the WWE audience back in 2001 after he won the Tough Enough competition, and he also got the opportunity to sign a professional contract with WWE.

Since Maven Huffman was treated as a lower mid card during his early career, he mostly focused on the WWE Hardcore Championship. He even won the mentioned Championship three times. The biggest career highlight of Huffman was participating in the Royal Rumble match of 2002, where he provided one of the most shocking moments in Royal Rumble history by eliminating The Undertaker.

Maven remembers this WWE release from 2005

Things did not change much for him even after this huge momentum, but he finally got a big Momentum when he got the opportunity to participate in the classic elimination tag team match at Survivor Series 2004, and it looked like he would finally get a big push following this success. He was having a good run following Survivor Series, too.

Maven got the opportunity to work in WWE after winning the Tough Enough competition in 2001

But things started to go down for him soon, and once again, he was stuck in the lower mid card. Ultimately, he was released from WWE in 2005. He revealed once that he got an opportunity to return later but he decided not to take the opportunity. Recently, Maven appeared on Ken Anderson’s “Mic Check” podcast, where he remembered his release from WWE;

“It took me years to get [there]. I’m not a overnight product. I was bitter for years. After I got fired in ‘ 05, It took the better part of 10 to 15 years before I wanted anything to do with wrestling. I blamed my lack of success on everyone other than me. And then once I finally sat down and realized, ‘You know what? You didn’t make it because of you.’”

“And you know what it was? I’m watching — and you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m watching a match I had with Hunter. And during this match… we’re both coming up off of a double down. And he goes to punch and he tells me, ‘block.’ I block, I give him one. And I stand there, and you can see me waiting for him to tell me what to do. And I’m thinking, ‘I wasn’t ready.’ Because now I know, ‘Stay on it.’ He’ll cut me off, he’ll get me to where he needs to be.

“But at the time I didn’t know that. You can’t handspoon feed people through every aspect of a match. And at the time, I’m thinking, ‘Ah, they just they’re not giving me the the the run I need.’ But I wasn’t ready. Now I know what to do. Stay on him, let him rake me in the eyes, let him kick me, let him do something. But at the time, I didn’t. So in fact, when they let me go? Probably the only thing they had to do.” said former three times WWE Hardcore Champion.
