John Cena's Last Time is Now tournament is going on with full force right now, and it began last Monday on RAW with two matches. Rusev and Sheamus have already qualified for the quarter finals. We can expect more matches on RAW next Monday. The tournament continued on SmackDown last Friday with two more matches.

Jey Uso had a first round match with the former two times World Champion, The Miz. After a hard fought battle, Jey Uso was able to snatch out a big victory over The A-Lister and also advanced to the quarter finals. Another match was set this week on SmackDown in the pre quarter finals.

Zack Ryder

LA Knight was supposed to face a mystery opponent on SmackDown tonight

LA Knight was supposed to take on a surprise opponent, with nothing had been confirmed. It was heavily rumoured that Joe Hendry is going to be the mystery opponent of the Megastar since the Scottish professional wrestler signed with WWE recently, and we can expect him to appear as a WWE star for the first time very soon.

Zack Ryder was the mystery opponent of LA Knight

But the mystery opponent was not Joe Hendry, but it turned out to be Zack Ryder. He finally made a sensational return to WWE after 5 long years. LA Knight and Zack Ryder had a hard fought battle, but ultimately, LA Knight picked up the victory and advanced to the quarter finals. Ryder was asked previously at the “Notsam Wrestling” podcast whether he wanted to participate in this tournament, to which he replied the following,

Zack Ryder

Zack Ryder was previously released from WWE back in 2020

“What does my entrance music say? What does my gear say? What does my butt say when you read my trunks?… It says ‘Alwayz Ready.’ So I’ve made a career out of being always ready, and I’ve said it for years, if the phone rings, I’ll have a conversation… Listen, this is an opportunity — an ultimate opportunity for anybody. So, who could it be?”

It has not been officially confirmed yet, but Zack Ryder has appeared as a WWE star. If he had appeared as a star from outside, he would have used his ring name, Matt Cardona. Since he lost his first match in WWE in over 5 years, it does not look like WWE has big plans for him. But we can definitely have a decent mid card push.
