LA Knight will always remain a prime example of how hard work can help wrestlers succeed in WWE. The promotion never had any big plans for Knight when he made his main roster debut. But after he became over with WWE fans, or better say, after he became one of the most over stars in WWE, the promotion had no other option but to put him over.

When LA Knight made his main roster debut back in 2022, Vince McMahon gave him the character of Max Dupri, a valet for a tag team named Maximum Male Models. It was reported that McMahon did not want to push him as a wrestler since he thought Knight was quite old. Moreover, he was just an afterthought.

LA Knight

Is LA Knight's popularity declining?

But after Triple H took charge of WWE creative, he gave him his LA Knight character back and started to use him as a lower mid card. Despite working as a lower mid card, he became quite over with the fans. Triple H wasted no time in promoting him as an upper mid card, and his popularity, on the other hand, kept on growing.

LA Knight is a two times WWE United States Champion

He had been one of the most over stars of WWE for the last couple of years at he had been a top merch seller as well. But according to WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, Knight's popularity has started to decline and the fans are not reacting to him as much as they used to. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast recently, he said the following;

LA Knight Jey Uso

Knight is presently having a rivalry with Jey Uso

“He’s snarky, he’s a wise-a*s. So it’s kind of hard to love somebody that comes off that way, right?” He also noted how the fan reactions for Knight appeared to wane during his match on Raw. Every time they screamed, ‘Yeah,’ it got a little less loud. It’s more about them screaming the word, and then the pop starts to die. I still believe that the emotional connection between LA Knight and the fanbase is lacking.”

Knight is still getting a main event push as he is presently working on a feud with Jey Uso. He even challenged for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Paris. Presently, it does not look like WWE is going to give up on his big push anytime soon. But it does not look like he would ever be given a World title run.
