When LA Knight became a part of the main roster in 2022, Vince McMahon only saw him as a manager to a random Tag Team. He thought he was too old to work in the ring. After Triple H took charge of the creative team of WWE, he gave him his LA Knight character back, but he only saw him as a lower mid card.
But despite being a lower mid card, he became extremely over with the fans, and it did not go unnoticed by the WWE creative team. He received a solid upper mid card push, and he even won the WWE United States Championship two times. He featured in multiple World Championship matches, and he also remained one of the top merch sellers of WWE.

But WWE Hall of Famer and four times WCW World Heavyweight Champion Kevin Nash thinks Knight's popularity among the WWE fans is slowly fading away. He also explained the potential reason behind the decline of Knight. Speaking on his “Kliq This” podcast, "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash explained the following;

“It’s not like we haven’t watched LA Knight wrestle a lot in the last couple of weeks. And it’s just like — he’s an athletic f*ker, I’ll give him credit. I thought the f*king, the one with Uso, I thought that Jey looked like he lost a ton of weight. Like, he was in much better shape. I thought that LA Knight wasn’t as sharp, body-wise, abs, everything else.

"Which I’m wondering if the anti-push and the kind of dead-end run he’s having right now is making it very difficult to not f*king eat as clean. Because that’s — all that st that gets in your mind because man, it’s a work. It ain’t like you can just f*king go out there [and try harder].
Knight is still featured on the main events of WWE, and presently, he is having a slow-burning rivalry with Jey Uso. One of these two fan favourite wrestlers is definitely turning heel at some point. It cannot be denied that Knight's popularity has decreased a little, as the fans do not go as wild as they used to when they hear his theme before. One thing can be said: he will never win the World Championship in WWE.
