LA Knight has been active in the main roster of WWE since 2022, and without any doubt, he is one of the most over wrestlers of the promotion right now. When he made his main roster debut in 2022, Vince McMahon did not even consider him as a wrestler, and he made him a manager of a jobber tag team. He was also given a new name, Max Dupri.

After Triple H took charge of the creative of WWE following the retirement of Vince McMahon, he gave him his LA Knight persona back; however, he never considered him as a top star. In fact, he was just a lower mid card for Triple H. But the fans love his character so much, and their support forced Triple H to push him as an upper mid card star.

Bubba Ray Dudley explains the changes the character of LA Knight requires

Presently, he stands as a two times WWE United States champion, and he regularly features in the main event matches and segments in WWE. But he also has to go through a lot of criticism for a repetitive gimmick. WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley recently pointed out the issues and explained what changes are needed to be made. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, he explained the following;

LA Knight is a two times WWE United States Champion

“So we’ve been talking about LA Knight for a long time now. All of the LA Knight supporters out there get really pissed off when we’re brutally honest about everything that we see, and nothing is meant disrespectful to LA Knight. We’re talking about a character and a performance in sports entertainment.”

“Do you have any hope for LA Knight at this point? Where does that character go? As a fan with the ups and downs of LA Knight, why should you be on board with him? I’m gonna answer the question for you: I don’t think you should be. All right, I think it’s time for a different side of LA Knight.”

He is presently out of action with a storyline injury

“I might be doing this a little too early for your liking, but I have an idea of the exact direction LA Knight should go in. Would you like to hear it now? What if LA Knight was the guy underneath the hood and climbed the cage and kicked CM Punk in the face? You need to do something. And you need to do something quick. Otherwise, he’s gonna kind of fade into midcard obscurity.”

LA Knight has a loyal fan base that is desperate to see him win the WWE World Championship and always feature on the main event segments. But it never looked like WWE ever wanted to promote him as a World Champion. However, recent reports suggest that WWE has big plans for him ahead of 2026. We may even get to see him winning the much awaited World Championship too.
