2025 had been a difficult year for many WWE stars as the promotion had released a number of names, including some of the top stars like Braun Strowman and Dakota Kai. Recently, another wrestler has been shown the door after his contract expired at the end of last week, and that is Karrion Kross.

The former two times NXT Champion was released from WWE for the first time back in 2021 since the promotion was forced to adjust its budget due to the covid-19 pandemic situation. In 2022, Triple H rehired him, and instantly, he was awarded a big feud with former World Champion Drew McIntyre.

WWE Hall of Famer believes AEW is a potential destination for Karrion Kross

Despite having such an amazing start, Kross seemed lost in the shuffle as he was struggling to get regular bookings. Ultimately, his contract expired last week, and WWE decided to let him go. The fans kept on thinking where he may head next, as WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley expressed his desire to see him in AEW. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast recently, he said;

Kross’ WWE contract expired last week

“The reality is this, Dave. If Karrion Kross was to leave, or the contract came to an end, they both decided to part ways, one guy’s got to let go, or he quit, whatever. Whatever it might be, there’s only truly one place for Karrion Kross to go — AEW.”

He also explained why TNA Wrestling will not be a destination for Karrion Kross; “TNA, I do not believe, is an option, because TNA is working with NXT and WWE. Although if he did show up in TNA, that would make for an interesting crossover story, if he ever came back to the WWE.”

Kross’ present path following WWE is still unknown, but AEW can definitely be an excellent fit for him. He can also head to an independent circuit where he can reignite all of his sparks. A large number of fans still believe that one day he will end up in WWE again, but there is a fat chance that he will ever be pushed as a main eventer in the promotion since he is already 40.
