Despite being one of the most famous names in WWE, the promotion decided to release Karrion Kross after his contract expired on August 10. This release sparked major backlash among the fans, and there were even "We Want Kross" chants during the weekly shows of WWE, which showed how much the wrestler was over with the fans lately.
Karrion Kross was initially released from WWE back in 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic by Vince McMahon, just to be brought back in 2022 by Triple H. It was no secret that he was one of the favorites of Triple H, and everybody expected him to get a big push upon his return. He even had a great start as he had a feud with Drew McIntyre following his return.

But that was pretty much it for him, and he started to be treated like a lower mid card. He even struggled to get regular bookings. Ultimately, on August 10, he was released from WWE after spending 3 years in the promotion. His contract expired, and WWE decided not to extend it. WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi recently discussed his release on his “Off The Top” podcast. He said;
Karrion Kross spent three years in WWE before getting released
“Good luck to him. At the end of the day, this is the business of professional wrestling. This is what we go through. It’s called negotiations, you know? So you’ve got to kind of negotiate the right way. And sometimes you might want to take less money just to get in there to prove to them that ‘I’m worth this money that I’m asking for.’

"So we’ll see. You know, I’m sure the people in the WWE understands the talent. I don’t know about the TKO, I don’t know about UFC, even if they have anything to do with these type of meetings. Hopefully not, because how can they understand a business that WWE has been standing on well over 100 years, you know. So if anyone knows the boys, it’s WWE.”
Karrion Kross started to receive a very good reaction from the fans during the WrestleMania season. WWE had no intentions of catching this popularity, and they ultimately decided not to extend his contract. Kross is presently active on the independent circui,t and we can expect to see him returning to WWE in the future.
