John Cena's retirement tour started in an excellent way back in January, and during the early days, it was really exciting. His participation in the men's Royal Rumble match, followed by his men's Elimination Chamber win and turning heel for the first time in over 20 years, everything was going excellently.

At WrestleMania 41, John Cena won the Undisputed WWE Championship, which became his 17th World title. The match was really not that good, but his record breaking title win was a feel good moment. The fans started to criticize his run when he started defending the title.

John Cena's retirement tour could have been booked better, thinks MLW star

He had matches with some of his biggest rivals, like Randy Orton and CM Punk. Moreover, Triple H did everything to keep things interesting, but somehow it did not work. He dropped the Championship at SummerSlam back to Cody Rhodes. After dropping the Championship, he never claimed the title back and started having random matches.

Things went really downhill after John Cena dropped the Championship, as the booking felt absolutely clueless. His babyface turn before SummerSlam did not make any sense either. It can be said that things could be booked in a much better way. Indie wrestler Paul Walter Hauser recently spoke with TMZ Sports, where he blamed TKO for destroying Cena's retirement tour. He said;

John Cena started his retirement tour at Netflix RAW premiere

“I think it’s TKO. They’re butchering it. I think it would have been nice if John Cena’s farewell tour included a great mesh of prior opponents that have known him for 20 years and future stars who could use the rub. I would have loved to have seen Cena fight people like The Miz. I would have loved to see Cena fight Jericho, The Miz, Sheamus, Triple H, Brock win and beat Brock. Um, why did they do that? It just feels so pointless. Why? What was the point? Seriously, guys, what was the point of that?”

Cena will wrestle his final match on December 13

“Maybe there’s some sort of payoff we’re not privy to. Like, does John show up at WrestleMania next year and, like, they extend the tour? We got to extend the tour, man. No, he has a point though, because people have been—yeah.

"No, the money of his last match is Brock, and he’s like, I have to beat this guy. I respect that decision, but I still wish that the match looked a little bit different. Yeah. Um, they brought him out with kids. He came out with kids, dude. The kids started crying. That was—those shots were funny, though. I think, I guess he’s fighting AJ Styles in Perth.” said the MLW star.
