John Cena remained a baby face for more than 21 long years, and the hardcore smarks were really angry at a point since they were not getting to see any change in his character. The wait seemed eternal to finally get to see Cena turn heel. But he was not changing his character despite many requests.

The dream to see Cena heel finally came through at the end of the Elimination Chamber event earlier this year when he turned on his WrestleMania 41 opponent, Cody Rhodes. This was the first time in more than 21 years that the fans got the opportunity to see him in a negative character.

WWE Hall of Famer claimed the present John Cena storyline needs more gas

There were really high expectations from the villain John Cena, as everybody was certain what he was able to do in a negative role. But surprisingly, the heel run of the spinner had been quite lacklustre so far. It has received massive criticism from the fans and critics already. WWE Hall of Fame and former 4 times WCW World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett explained that this storyline needs more gas in order to make it more exciting. Speaking on his "My World" podcast, he explained the following;

John Cena turned heel at the Elimination Chamber event earlier this year

"Better pour some gas on that fire," said the WWE Hall of Famer, "That's where I scratch my head, where are they going with him? I know Cody is back in the mix and they kind of did some chucking jiving, so are they are going to switch him back? Curiosity is what they want, but are they going to switch him face this quick?

John Cena won his 17th World title at WrestleMania 41

"I don't know. I don't want to say they're in no man's land, but man, they are awful close to it. I really think they are awful close to it, so they've got to create a little bit more tailwind out of it because they came out of it...that'd been March, and we're just at the end of May."

After John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 and won the Undisputed WWE Championship, he had a short feud with one of his biggest rivals, Randy Orton. But presently, he is not even feuding for the Championship. Despite Cody Rhodes' involvement in his current feud, things are still quite dull. We seriously hope WWE does something special to make things exciting, something that fans expected to see.
