As the retirement match of John Cena is closing in, the emotions of the fans are getting really difficult to control. He is presently having a retirement tour, which he started at the Netflix RAW premiere, which was also the first RAW of 2025. He announced last year that he will retire from in ring action by the end of 2025.

His main objective of his retirement tour was to win his 17th World Championship, which had been a record in WWE. Previously, he was tired of Ric Flair with 16 World Championship reigns. Finally, he broke the record at WrestleMania 41 after he defeated Cody Rhodes. He even turned heel in the process.

It was his first heel run in over 21 years. He never turned heel after he became the face of WWE, despite it being a huge request from the fans. His fans already shared a lot of wishes to see a number of wrestlers as his final opponents. Even John Cena's father shared his opinion on who should be the final opponent of his son. Recently he appeared on the “WrestleBinge” podcast, where he named Chris Jericho and Edge would have been the best choice for his son's final opponent;

“I mean, I’d love to see Adam Copeland in there with John. That would be a great finish." He continued, “Jericho is another guy that I could think that might be in there with Cena, but the way it’s going, take the coin and throw it in the air, and let’s see which football team gets the first ball. Yeah.”

Gunther is presently rumoured to be the final opponent of John Cena. However, he is presently out of action with multiple injuries he suffered during his match at SummerSlam. But he is rumored to be coming back soon to take part in this tournament. Unfortunately, it is impossible to see Chris Jericho or Edge as the final opponent of Cena.
