John Cena's professional wrestling legacy could be stretched to over 25 years, and in this long time period, he has had multiple big rivalries with some of the biggest names in the world of wrestling. If it is asked who the biggest rivals of Cena's career are, multiple names will be mentioned, including Randy Orton and Edge.

Another name that can never be forgotten to be one of the biggest Rivals of Cena's professional wrestling career is CM Punk. Their rivalry started back in 2011, and they mostly wrestled over the WWE Championship. This rivalry did not have different phases like the other names that are mentioned, but even in a short time period, it became one of the classics.

CM Punk John Cena

John Cena had a desire to face CM Punk again

John Cena is presently going through his retirement tour, and after the end of 2025, we will never see him working in the ring again. Which leads to the fact that Cena vs Punk is not possible anymore either. Cena recently spoke at Fan Expo Chicago, where he expressed his desire to he could face CM Punk more. Here is what he had to say;

CM Punk had been one of the biggest Rivals in John Cena's career

"A few things. First of all, we both want the same spot. And I also think we both love the same thing. A lot of people that want that front spot, purely want it for selfish reasons. Every once in a while, you get somebody who wants to sit in the front that loves the business, and we love it in different ways, too. I think we’re such different personalities, but we share a lot of the same core values. So we just want to bring the best out of each other.”

Cena will retire from in ring action at the end of this year

“For some reason, we kind of found each other and found each other at the right time and man, I wish I could have kept him with us. I wish he didn’t have to take all that time off because we could have had some more matches, but I’m grateful for the moments we’ve had. And I think that, I think we just, we both want to sit in front. We both really love the business.”

After winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, John Cena had matches with a couple of his biggest rivals of all time, which included CM Punk and Randy Orton. But it was not even a rivalry, and more of a random match up. Unfortunately, this match is not possible anymore, but it will always be remembered as one of the best rivalries in professional wrestling history.
