John Cena has wrestled his last ever match last Saturday at the Saturday Night's Main Event show against the former two times WWE World Heavyweight Champion, The Ring General Gunther. He went through a retirement tour throughout this year, and after having a wonderful year, he is now completely retired from in ring action.

Last year, during the Money in the Bank event, John Cena announced that he would retire at the end of 2025. He started his retirement tour on January 6 at the Netflix RAW premiere, and from participating in the Royal Rumble match to winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, he did it all during his iconic retirement tour.

John Cena does not want to return to ending action ever

Cena even became the Grand Slam champion by winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Therefore, nothing remains to be achieved in his WWE career. Recently, he discussed whether he would ever return to in ring action after working in his retirement match. Speaking with Tom Rinaldi, he explained the following;

John Cena worked in his retirement match last Saturday

“I don’t think there’ll — no, I don’t think so. I don’t think there is one. Yeah. I think once, like — man, we’re all gonna go, you know? And I think I address that all the time. And I think once you address that. Once you realize that you’re mortal and you don’t put yourself on some fictitious timeline that, ‘I’m gonna try to do my best not to go tomorrow. But we’re all gonna go. And I don’t get to choose what time I go.”

John Cena Celebration

He started the retirement tour on January 6th

“So the last part [never being in the ring’ is the true part. I will be an ambassador to the WWE. I’m already signed on for another five years of which — I was like ‘Please, as long as you can do it. I would like to be in this family as an employee, as a contributing part for as long as I can.’"

John Cena has signed an ambassador deal of 5 years with WWE, and he will only be active in non wrestling roles. But can he keep his word not working in the ring ever? Many wrestlers have returned from retirement previously, from the Undertaker to Shawn Michaels; a large number of big names have made the same mistake. We hope Cena does not do it.
