John Cena vs The Rock had always been a dream rivalry, and it was one of the dream rivalries that WWE actually delivered. The fans got to amazing matches, and both of them were the main events of two different WrestleMania main events. Both of the matches have cult followings, especially their first encounter from WrestleMania 28.
The rivalry started at the climax of the main event of WrestleMania 27, where The Miz was defending the WWE Championship against John Cena. The Rock was the guest host of the event, and at the end of the match, The People's Champion shocked the entire world when he cost Cena the Championship.

For the first time and for the only time, the main event of a WrestleMania event one year prior to the show. WWE kept on promoting this match for the entire year, and ultimately, at WrestleMania 28, the dream match finally took place, and it is still considered one of the best WrestleMania main events of all time.

The Rock ultimately picked up the victory, and at WrestleMania 29, WWE organised this match once again and this time it was for the WWE Championship. Cena got his revenge as he finally defeated the People's Champion. WWE star Roxanne Perez recently remembered this match while speaking on the “Going Ringside” podcast. She said the following;

“Oh yeah, absolutely. Him versus The Rock, Once in a Lifetime, that storyline was actually what made me fall in love with pro-wrestling. The fact that I got to be a part of something with him on his retirement tour is just absolute insanity.”
“When people ask me if I thought that all of this would be happening, if I’d be in the WWE, I say yes and no, because I did always think that I would make it here. Something always told me that I would make it possible. But I never expected all of these crazy things to come with it, like being in the ring with John Cena and giving him my finisher. Never expected that. Wrestling is crazy.” said Perez.
