After John Cena dropped the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, he was attacked by a returning Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate remained out of action for a couple of years before making a sensational return at the mentioned stage to attack his old rival Cena.
Nothing had been explained about why Lesnar attacked Cena. But he did not appear until SmackDown of September 5th, where Cena was enjoying his final SmackDown appearance and having a match with Sami Zayn. At the end of the match, Brock Lesnar appeared again and beat down once again. This attack ended up in a match at the upcoming WWE premium live event Wrestlepalooza.

Bubba Ray Dudley criticized the John Cena vs Brock Lesnar feud
This might have been a huge match, but WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley believed it was an unnecessary match, as John Cena is not passing the torch to anyone. Since he is closing in on his retirement, he should focus on putting over younger stars. Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast recently, he explained the following;
Brock Lesnar attacked John Cena at the end of SummerSlam
“I’m really not that interested. So you’re saying at Wrestlepalooza, your prediction is Lesnar is going to destroy Cena, which will lead to a mini story for his last four or five appearances culminating in his last match? … There’s no stakes, there’s nothing up for grabs, what’s the big deal? So if Cena and Brock play this out for the rest of Cena’s appearances, who really wins?

The duo will meet each other at the upcoming WWE premium live event Wrestlepalooza
"Yes, the fans get entertained by it but no younger wrestler gets to say ‘I beat John Cena, I wrestled John Cena in his last match’ … this is very much about the passing of the torch, now maybe nobody is worthy of having that torch passed to them but I have to believe that there’s somebody out there.” said the Tag Team legend and WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley.
Ever since Cena stopped working regularly in WWE for Hollywood, he has mostly focused on putting over younger talents. But after he started his retirement tour earlier this year, we have not gotten to see him promoting any younger talents as of now. All we can expect is for him to promote some new star before he retires.
