But there is one major Championship in WWE that he could never win, which is the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and it also prevents him from becoming a Grand Slam champion. When he started his retirement tour, a demand from the fans could be heard about having an IC Championship reign, so that he could finally become a Grand Slam champion.
John Cena to challenge for the WWE IC title?
But his primary focus remained on winning the 17th WWE world title and breaking history, and he did that exactly at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes to win his 17th WWE World Championship. He dropped the championship to Cody Rhodes at Summerslam recently, and it looks like he is not going back for the Championship anymore.
John Cena could never win the WWE IC Championship
But will he ever become a Grand Slam champion in WWE? He has done everything in the promotion apart from being a Grand Slam champion. The present WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dominik Mysterio, recently talked about potentially defending the title against John Cena. Speaking on the “Rap On Wrestling” podcast, he said;

“I mean, he can try, and what’s that thing he says? If you want some, come get some. You know what? John, you know where I’m at.” Mysterio continued, “If you want to come finish your Grand Slam quest, these little side quests you’re on, I’m here all day. Every Monday, you know where I’ll be.”
John Cena is presently having a feud with Logan Paul, and he will face him at the upcoming WWE event, Clash in Paris. Brock Lesnar is next in the queue, who attacked him after his match at SummerSlam. With his retirement tour coming to an end, and his schedule looking fixed, there is a hard chance that he would go for the WWE IC Championship.
