It has already been over 2 weeks since John Cena worked in his farewell match at the Saturday Night's Main Event against the former two times World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. WWE fans had been extremely emotional at the end of this match, and a large number of fans are still unhappy because of the way the match ended.

John Cena tapped out for the first time in 21 years, and he only tapped out in his farewell match. The fan hated the decision, and they started to show towards the man who was responsible for this incident, Gunther. WWE did not miss the opportunity to put him over as the biggest heel of WWE right now.

Natalya talks about John Cena tapping out in his farewell match

Gunther earned the opportunity to challenge Cena in his retirement match by winning is 16 men tournament, which was organised to determine the final opponent of The Greatest of All Time. The Ring General created history after he made Cena tap out last ever professional wrestling match. Despite backlash from the fans, Natalya supported the decision while speaking with “The Toronto Sun,” and said;

John Cena had his farewell match against Gunther on December 13

“What I really love about John’s ending is that he left on his terms. I talk about this in my book, about beating the house. Very, very, very few professional athletes get to beat the house. Very few get to leave on their own terms. Most people leave because they’re forced into it, they’re forced into retirement, they have to go.

“John did what Jerry Seinfeld did. Jerry Seinfeld stopped doing his own show when he was like the #1 show on television. And I remember when I was a kid, I used to love Seinfeld. My mom and my sisters and I would always watch it together. It was like, something we did together, and we love that show.

"And I was devastated when Seinfeld went off the air, and I was like — they were the number one show on on TV at the time. Jerry Seinfeld said, ‘Yeah, we want to we want to leave on top. We don’t want to leave when the ratings tank.” And so you see with John, he did it on his own terms.”

John Cena has not been the only wrestler that Gunther retired in 2025. In July, he worked with Goldberg in his farewell match. So he created history by retiring as one of the biggest names in the same year. WWE has set their site on pushing him as the biggest heel of the promotion, and so far, he has done an amazing job.
