John Cena made every WWE fan cry after he attended his farewell match on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event. Last year, at the Money in the Bank event, he announced his retirement for the end of 2025 and also embarked on a retirement tour throughout this year. Ultimately, he worked in his final match in the mentioned event.
He started his retirement tour at the Netflix RAW premiere, and the first goal he had in this retirement tour was to win the WWE World Championship for the 17th time. He created history at WrestleMania 41 after he defeated Cody Rhodes to win the WWE World Championship, and it was also his record breaking 17th World title.

John Cena also turned heel in the process, and it was his first ever heel run in over 21 years. He recorded his 17th World Championship run as a heel, and it was his only title reign in WWE as a villain. He dropped the Championship at SummerSlam back to Cody Rhodes. After dropping the title, he had some random matches. But undoubtedly, his best match of this retirement tour was against AJ Styles from Crown Jewel.

John Cena worked in his retirement match on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event against Gunther, and this is the first time in 21 years that he accepted his defeat by tapping out. Cena recently talked about his post retirement plans and what he would do following his retirement. Recently, he spoke with Cody Rhodes on his “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast, where he stated the following;
“I have always been somebody to wait for life to deal you what it’s going to. ‘Cause life will deal you a hill, you know? It will deal you a hill. Right. So what is immediately next for me? I gotta get my third run on an implant [his tooth] here. I’ve lost three of them, and I gotta get another one. Just lost it. Life did it. Okay. So I’m going to get that done two days from now. And then holiday travel.

He was defeated by Gunther in his farewell match
"So be present with curiosity and purpose with my family for seven days, and then for my other family for 10 days. And then after that, whatever hill I have next. But that is like keep screen time way down. Get as many social engagements as you can. Actively listen. Curiously, ask about folks and be genuine in what they have to answer.
"Know when a good friend of mine try to head, do you need, do you want me to listen, or do you want me to help essentially? A lot of folks just wanna lighten their backpack. You know what I’m saying? So these are folks I care and love about and actively after years of absence, hiding under the guise of, well, I’m working. I’m still not pouring into that relationship. So I got two to three weeks of that. And then, then I’ll see man.” said John Cena, about his post retirement plans.
