Less than a week remains before the farewell match of John Cena, which will take place at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event. The Ring General Gunther will be his final opponent in this match, as he earned the right to face him by winning a 16 man tournament, which was organised to determine the final opponent of Cena.

John Cena went on a retirement tour throughout 2025, and it had been an amazing year for him. He has done a lot of things, including winning the WWE World Championship for the 17th time, having his first heel run in over 21 years, and he also became a WWE Grand Slam Champion by winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his illustrious professional wrestling career.

John Cena discusses his biggest career regret

Without any doubt, Cena is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling, and he is going to be remembered as one of the biggest faces of the promotion. He has been active in the main roster of WWE since 2002, and nobody has earned more success in terms of championships than him in the history of WWE.

But despite having an illustrious professional wrestling career, John Cena also has flaws in his 25 year old career. Fans and critics have always talked about the issues he went through in his career. The Champ himself recently talked about his biggest career regret while speaking on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” as he revealed the following;

“Blowing the — completely disintegrating Ruthless Aggression, and it almost got me fired. So here I am, a young whippersnapper debuting in Chicago, because the Undertaker’s sick. I get to challenge Kurt Angle to a match on Smackdown in front of a soldout house at the formerly known as Rosemont Horizon.

"The Olympic gold medalist says, ‘What makes you think you can stand out here with anybody else? What do you have that I don’t?’ ‘Ruthless aggression!’ I slap him in the face. That’s aggressive. And then the match we went on to have is pretty ruthless.

“But then like he won, but with like a roll up pinfall. And then the aggressive, ruthless young kid goes like, ‘Man, you only got me by that much.’ And then the next thing they did was like a backstage taping with the Undertaker. Where the ruthless aggressive kid is so starry-eyed that the Undertaker is giving him advice like, ‘Hey, you did a great job.’ [He] shakes the Undertaker’s hand. That is neither ruthless nor aggressive.” said Cena.
