No professional wrestling career is more complete than John Cena, who has won everything possible for him in WWE. During his early career, he mostly focused on winning the WWE United States Championship since he was on SmackDown, and the US title was exclusive to SmackDown back then. When he switched to RAW, he became a concrete main eventer, and he did not return to the mid card division again.

Apart from the World title and the United States title, John Cena also won the Tag Team titles multiple times, won two Royal Rumble matches, and also the Money in the Bank ladder match. The only thing that was remaining for him to win in WWE was the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and it was also preventing him from becoming a WWE Grand Slam champion.

John Cena talked about winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship in his final months

Ultimately, on RAW last week, John Cena defeated Dominic Mysterio to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time. He also became a Grand Slam Champion in the process. Recently, he talked about winning the WWE championship and why his title run is so important. Speaking on the “RAW Recap” podcast recently, he said the following;

John Cena will defend the title at Survivor Series against Dominik Mysterio

“How about that? Everyone’s talking about that IC run Stone Cold [Steve Austin] had at the very end. Taker with that late IC run. That’s just one of the — How about that? Look at that. Here we are. Just on that way out. Just on that way out. But no, what an awesome opportunity. And I just came from Liverpool, just did a convention over there over the weekend, and so many people, again, incredibly grateful for the opportunity to get in there with Dom Mysterio, who I respect and admire.

"He reminds me a lot of me, and he reminds me of a lot of the mistakes I made. Like I can see all of the mistakes that are about to be made. And I want to shake him, ‘You’re about to do this!’ But I want him to learn for himself. But he is authentic, he is reliable, he works hard, and he’s passionate about the business. He’ll learn, he’ll figure the rest out.

John Cena will wrestle his last ever match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13

"But what a chance in Boston to have a chance at a championship match, and because it’s not what Stone Cold would do. Because yeah, yeah, I’d like that’ match. It can be done your own way. There’s no right way to be a success in this business. It’s just take opportunities as they come, and I got a cool opportunity to do something special, and it was a special moment.”

John Cena only has two more appearances left in his WWE contract. In his next match, he will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the previous champion Dominik Mysterio, at the Survivor Series event, and on Saturday Night's Main Event, he will have his last ever wrestling match. If he does not drop the title at Survivor Series, he is likely to defend the title in his final match, too. This is definitely going to be one of the most emotional nights for each and every wrestling fan.
