Throughout his professional wrestling career, John Cena only worked as a babyface, and after 2003, he never turned heel, despite it having always been a huge demand from the fans. He had been the face of WWE for around two decades, but the fans never got the opportunity to see him working as a heel.
But that is until his retirement tour, when he finally decided to turn heel after over 20 years. The fans who were waiting for this turn for a long time were extremely happy to see their wish granted. He also had his first World Championship run as a heel. He won the Championship at WrestleMania 41 after he defeated Cody Rhodes.

John Cena accepts the fact that his heel run was a failure
His heel run stretched to over four months, but unfortunately, it was a huge missed opportunity as this heel run turned out to be a massive failure. John Cena recently appeared on Fan Expo Chicago, where he talked about his much awaited heel run and admitted that it failed. Here is what he has to discuss about the failure of his heel run;
John Cena turned heel earlier this year for the first time in over 20 years
“No. I wasn’t upset. I just know I failed. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. You can learn from failure, right? I went out there and bombed. S**t happens, guys. Come on now.” said the former 17 times WWE world champion who will retire from in ring action by the end of this year.

Cena's babyface turn before SummerSlam also faced massive criticism since it did not make any sense
He continued, “Man, what I’m hearing is: ‘In a hypothetical universe, what different choices would you make?’ I will answer that with: hindsight is a waste of time. … We got 11 dates left. I think I’ll be able to talk about all this bupkis in January after the whole thing is over. But we’ve taken the audience on a on a hell of a ride this year. We still got a ways left to go, so I’m excited about that.”
The failure of John Cena's heel run shows the lack of Ideas in the present WWE creative team. Triple H is trying to do a lot of things, but he completely lacks vision. In a lot of fields, he has shown his desire to make improvements, like introducing the women's mid card division for the first time in WWE, but it is completely visionless. We hope things improve in the future.
