Jacob Fatu has been absent since SummerSlam, where he failed to win the WWE United States Championship. He challenged his real life cousin, Solo Sikoa, for the Championship inside a Steel Cage. Fatu won the title at WrestleMania 41, where he defeated the previous champion, "The Megastar" LA Knight.
After he turned on his cousin Solo Sikoa, the duo started a rivalry for the WWE United States Championship, and at the Night of Champions event, Sikoa defeated Jacob Fatu to take the WWE United States Championship away from him. But the duo kept on feuding for the championship, and they finally fought for the title at SummerSlam.

Ultimately, Sikoa ended up beating Fatu inside the Steel Cage for the WWE United States Championship. After losing to Sikoa at SummerSlam, Fatu remained out of action until the latest episode of SmackDown. Nothing had been confirmed on why he was out of action. Some rumours suggested that he picked up a minor injury, which kept him off the screen.

In SmackDown this week, Drew McIntyre was cutting a promo inside the ring, where he was complaining about his defeat at Wrestlepalooza. He challenged Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship but failed to win the title. Nick Aldis confronted him and said that it was his own fault that he lost and no one else's.

Jacob Fatu made a sudden interference during this segment and confronted the Scottish Psychopath. The conversation ended up being violent as Fatu attacked Drew McIntyre and beat him down. Quite obviously, these two are going to have a dream rivalry next.
But this decision has upset a lot of Drew McIntyre fans as they believe it is a downgrade for the former three times world champion. He did not have a proper World Championship run in nearly 5 long years, and presently, it does not look like he has any chance of winning a World Championship title soon.
